It is an exceptionally fertile valley that was and still remains the larder of Cuzco. Visit the village of Pisac, founded during colonial times, and set at the foot of a hill crowned by the remains of an ancient Inca city. On Sundays, Tuesdays and Thursdays, Indians barter their products in the main square and artisans from around the area sell their woven alpaca wool blankets and ponchos, engraved gourds, antique reproductions, jewellery, etc. On Sundays it is also the meeting place for Mayors from all the villages in the region, dressed in their traditional costumes to attend morning mass. DAY 06: FULL DAY – MACHUPICCHU

Early transfer to the railway station for the 06.00 departure to Aguas Calientes in train and then a bus ride up to the spectacular Machu Picchu ruins (25 minutes).

Guided visit of Machu Picchu. Built by the Inca Pachacutec and comprising stone blocks fitted with masterful precision that harmoniously blends into the mountain landscape. There are many theories as to the origins behind Machu Picchu but three of the most popular ideas include a temple to the sun, a fortress against the jungle inhabitants or a sanctuary for the Incas. This fabulous city has houses, temples, warehouses, a large central square, all connected by narrow roads and steps, and is surrounded by terraces cut into the mountain side which were used for agriculture. After the tour, free time to enjoy this magical and spiritual wonder. Opportunity for a trek (approx 1 hour) up to the sungate (Intipunku), which is a part of the Inca Trail, for a magical view of the sanctuary. Return to Cuzco in the train. Arrival in the evening and transfer to hotel.

(Breakfast & buffet lunch)

DAY 07: RAINBOW MOUNTAIN

The Vilcabamba range of mountain located to the southeast of Cusco is a very important section of the Andes Cordillera, this is one of the mountain range in Peru that has the highest concentration of snowy peaks, this creates beautiful high Andean landscapes with vast snow-capped mountains and large glaciers, which in their thaws make to appear beautiful lagoons, lakes, nice valleys. Nowadays with the passage of time many of these summits are completely uncovered of snow and they show a special natural pigment of the rock that together with some minerals and the special color of the soil of this place creates beautiful mountain, they are very striking by the colors they show, these together with the local people who are mainly breeders of Alpacas and Llamas will make this tour in an unforgettable experience, breathe deeply and live the 5020 meters of “Vinicunca” (The rainbow Mountain).

DAY 08: MARAS MORAY – SALT MINES

Immersed by breathtaking Andean beauty, the Maras Salt Pans and concentric agricultural terraces at Moray are lesser-known attractions in the Sacred Valley.  Both sites, though unrelated in purpose, illustrate how the Incas used their understanding of the environment to capitalized on the natural resources at their fingertips. Take the time to explore the remote region northwest of Cusco and discover Maras and Moray. Both sites offer a fresh look at Incan ingenuity that well may turn out being the unexpected highlights of your trip. Browse our guide below for essential facts and travel tips on a Maras and Moray tour.
